Dear Friends in Christ,

I hope all of you are still enjoying your Summer time and are keeping cool.

I would like to remind you that our parish picnic is set for Sunday, September 18 at Fort Hunt Park (the same park as last year and the same picnic space). By then we expect that our new rector, Fr. John Roddy, will be here to join in this fun annual event with us! Please note that only two services will be held on September 18: 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. A sign-up sheet will go up on the bulletin board downstairs nearer to the time.

Thanks to all who have signed up to take a turn at hosting the 9 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. coffee hour on an upcoming Sunday. But there are still “slots” to fill in the next several weeks. Sign-up sheets for the coffee hour are located on the bulletin board downstairs.

If you are, or you know of, a low-income Alexandria homeowner who needs assistance with home repairs, Rebuilding Together Alexandria wants to hear from you. Since the organization was founded by Barbara Joseph in 1986, teams of RTA volunteers have repaired and rehabilitated over 1,300 Alexandria residents’ homes and non-profit agencies with in-kind donations of labor and materials resulting in almost $5.3 million worth of value. All repairs are made at no expense to the property owners. To apply for repair assistance or inquire about volunteering with RTA, send an e-mail to or call 703/836-1021.

Peace and blessings to you ALL!

Fr. Thierry
