Dear Friends in Christ,

I hope you are all enjoying the summer season, despite the fact that temperatures are still high in some areas of the country.

It is my great honor and duty to announce to you the Good News that the Search Committee, after six months of deliberations, interviews, and meetings, has made its report and recommendations to the Vestry this past week in a specially called executive session meeting. The Vestry has approved the recommendation of The Rev. John Roddy of Marietta, Georgia, to be our next rector. He will be with us in September. The Holy Ghost has called him to our parish.

Further, when he arrives, I will not be leaving you. I will be staying with you as the Assistant Priest. I ask each of you to welcome him to our parish family. A more detailed letter will soon be sent to each of you by the senior warden telling you about our new rector. May God Bless each and every one of you, and our new rector Father John Roddy.

I would like to remind you that our annual picnic will be Sunday, September 18th at Fort Hunt Park (the same park as last year and the same picnic space). Only two services will be held that day: 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. A sign-up sheet will go up on the bulletin board in the church undercroft nearer to the time.

Happy Summer time and may the peace of God reign mightily in your heart.

Fr. Thierry
