Dear Beloved,

I hope everyone is doing well and recovering from the stress of Hurricane Irene. We thank God for protecting us from the storm.

Sunday, September 11 – aside from being a national day of remembrance – will also be the first time that Fr. John Roddy will conduct services here as our new rector! It would be great to see every single parishioner make it to church that day to welcome our new spiritual leader.

A sign-up sheet for our annual parish picnic – set for Sunday, September 18, at Fort Hunt Park – is now available on the bulletin board downstairs. The parish will provide the basics – pork barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages and drinks. But please indicate on the sign-up sheet whether you will bring a side dish or dessert, and how many will come with you to the picnic.

The Men’s Group will meet on Saturday, September 17, at 8:30 a.m. The lesson instructor/leader will be Bill Russell. Under a new format, the Men’s Group will alternate discussion leaders from month to month. “Volunteers” are needed for October and November. If none appear, be forewarned that individuals will be “volunteered” by the group!

The annual DMAS Pre-Advent Retreat will be held November 11-12 at St. Alban’s Parish in Richmond, VA. More detailed information will be distributed at a later date.  Please mark your calendars for this event.

There is a desperate need for food for the kittens being rescued by Animal Allies, our partner in Bless the Animals Alexandria. If you can help, please leave food donations for the kittens on the designated table downstairs.

Peace and blessings to All.

Fr. Thierry
