The next Men’s Bible Study will be on Saturday, November 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the undercroft under the cuisine direction of Chef Boy-ar-Crump and the spiritual direction of Fr. John, with Bob Boyd directing us in discussion.

Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m., in the Undercroft: Civil War Lecture: Alexandria as a Major Hospital Center. Learn some facts before PBS airs the fictional “Mercy Street” in Jan. Doug Coleman, a native Alexandrian, distinguished local lawyer and columnist, will focus on what happened at The Mansion House Hospital, Seminary and L’Ouverture, Washington Street United Methodist Church and convalescent camps. The talk will also touch on Civil War medicine and nursing.

St. Andrew’s Day, Sunday, November 30, will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. with the Kirkin of the Tartans, Bagpiper, Scottish Fiddling and, as usual, a reception following service. If you would like to bring something for the reception, please sign up. The Sign-Up Sheet with suggestions is on the Bulletin Board in the undercroft.

The Wednesday 10:30 Bible Study’s new book: The Christian Old Testament by Lawrence Farley (a former Anglican priest, now Orthodox) may be obtained for $15. Contact Bob Boyd at or see him Sunday a.m.
