"Love
does not depend upon any characteristic of the one being served; just
upon his/her need. Showing love, focusing on others is the difference
between false and true Christianity."

Upcoming
Activities
*Mens Group*
The Men’s Group will resume meeting September 11th and continue to
meet each second Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. The study for this year will be How Then Should We Live? The Rise and
Decline of Western Thought and Culture by Francis Schaeffer. This work traces
western history from ancient Rome until the time of writing (1976)
along three lines: philosophic, scientific, and religious. The study
provides Christians with a view of the increasing challenges of living
in a post-modern world and increasingly secular society. It helps equip
them with an apologist view in defending their faith. Study materials
will be provided. ALL parish men
are encouraged to join us!!
SUNDAY SCHOOL begins Sep 19th for preschool
through middle school! Please contact the office for registration
information!
Come join your fellow parishioners for
delectable food and great conversation! Join our Foyers!
The French word FOYERS means a hearth or firesides, suggesting a small
group, relaxed and open to one another. Members meet in
small groups of six to eight monthly in a home or
restaurant for a simple meal and relaxed conservation.
Foyers is a unique opportunity to meet new members and for the
"older" members to renew friendships! Foyers reaches across all
services! Foyers sign up begins Sunday, Sep 5th and runs through
Sunday, Sep 19th. Foyers officially begin meeting
October 2010 through May 2011 (with breaks for
Christmas/Easter). The sign up sheet is located in the
parish hall.
Starting in September,
Fr. Nick will teach a Sunday morning adult study (10:30 a.m.) on the
Ten Commandments. This will include a look at the history, Biblical,
and Theological backgrounds of the Commandments.
Our diocesan
bishop, The Rt. Rev. William McClean, Jr., has announced his retirement
effective June 2011. His annual visit to our parish will take place September
17th at 7:00 p.m. I hope that you will save the date
and join us for Holy Communion and reception of new members followed by
a festive reception to honor Bishop McClean. If you desire to be
received into the ACC and have not spoken with me, please do so soon.
Youth Group Fall Kickoff! Join us for
an afternoon of GeoCaching followed by feasting! Sunday, Sep
19th, 1-4PM
Our
annual parish picnic

Who We Are
Many
faithful Christians today are searching for a church home; a
Church that preaches and teaches the historic faith "once
delivered"; a Church where "Scripture", "Reason", and "Tradition" are
not words that have to be whispered.
Well, dear
friend, we have great news!
The Church established by Jesus Christ is very much alive and well; a
Church faithful to the Word of God and unwilling to compromise on
matters of Faith, Morals, or Discipline; a Church rich in traditional
liturgy and worship; a Church that continues to follow the teachings of
Christ instead of those of the world.
The Church
of St. Andrew & St.
Margaret is a vibrant, growing parish within the Anglican Catholic
Church located just outside our nation's capitol in the heart of
Northern Virginia.
If
you are searching for a spiritual
home, we welcome you to join us for worship and study. You are also
encouraged to call or email our rector who will be most happy to answer
your questions.
We Welcome You in the Name of the Lord!

Want
to know more about
the Anglican Catholic Church?
Join Fr. Nick for a course based on Archbishop Haverland’s Anglican
Catholic Faith and Practice. Classes will meet each Wednesday at
7:00 p.m. If interested in attending, please call or
email the parish office to register.
Would you like your
house
blessed? House blessings are one of the oldest Christian devotions we
continue.
The house blessing includes a series of prayers asking God to banish
evil and
maintain peace and harmony within the dwelling. Following the blessing,
folks
usually gather for a meal or reception. It is appropriate to invite
relatives
and friends to join in the prayers and wish peace, prosperity, and
health to
all that dwell therein. If interested in having your house blessed,
please
contact Fr. Nick at revfrnick@comcast.net
As a
friendly reminder,
please do not drop off clothes, furniture, or books at the church. We
do not collect or distribute these item
Bless
the Animals
Alexandria (BTAA), an outreach of our parish, is in need of volunteers.
BTAA helps local shelters with food and supply donations, but is
especially focused on blessing and praying for sick animals and
assisting their owners who may be elderly or incapacitated with walking
and/or visits. We also have other opportunities as well. If interested
in helping, please contact Susan Carleson at SusanCarleson@msn.com
or myself at revfrnick@comcast.net
I also encourage you to check out our website at
BlessTheAnimalsAlexandria.org
We
are
currently looking for volunteer singers for the 9:00 a.m. & 11:15
a.m. choirs. You do not have to read music or have any formal
training to join! If interested, please contact Karen Stamm at mkstamm@aol.com or talk to her following
the Sunday services.
